Biography

Peng T. Ong is a seasoned founder and investor who spends his time venture building the next generation of AI-enabled businesses. As Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Monk’s Hill Ventures, an early-stage tech venture capital firm in Southeast Asia, he influences innovation across the region.

Before Monk’s Hill, Peng was a Venture Partner at GSR Ventures, a firm known for investments like Didi Chuxing, Eleme, and Qunar. As an entrepreneur, Peng co-founded Match.com, Interwoven, and Encentuate, whose products collectively generate over $1 billion in annual revenue today. His contributions to Singapore’s tech ecosystem earned him the Public Service Medal (P.B.M.) in 2012. He has served on statutory boards including ACE, IIPL, SUTD, NRF, IE Singapore, IMDA. He was also on boards of prominent public companies including SingTel and YY.

Peng currently chairs the SolveEducation! foundation, sits on the International Advisory Board for the University of Texas at Austin, and serves as Rector of Residential College 4 at the National University of Singapore.

Peng holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and an M.S. in Computer Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He was inducted into the University of Illinois College of Engineering’s Alumni Hall of Fame in 2016. He was also named a Distinguished Engineering Graduate by the University of Texas in 2025.
