The global pandemic has added tremendous pressure on healthcare systems around the world and reinforced the need for efficient operations and productive healthcare professionals. I am proud to announce today our Series A investment into Bot MD, an A.I. clinical assistant empowering doctors.

Every day, doctors rely on an extensive list of medical applications on their smartphones to conduct their medical practice. Most hospitals have multiple legacy systems and an intranet that stores their institution-specific content, including guidelines, call rosters, drug information, and more. None of these systems are easily searchable by doctors, who have to switch between multiple applications, causing tremendous inefficiencies and frustrations in daily clinical operations.

The true irony is that the plethora of medical apps designed to assist doctors are killing productivity, and this is where Bot MD comes in.

Bot MD is a powerful search tool powered by artificial intelligence that makes hospital and patient information instantly accessible. It has a single user-friendly interface that integrates into hospitals’ systems to extract relevant information from different data sources in real-time - essentially like a Siri on steroids for healthcare professionals.

Having worked closely with founders Dot, YC, and the Bot MD team for the past two years, we have witnessed first-hand the team’s strong ability to execute and their sheer tenacity. Unlike other pure SaaS enterprise players, the team’s extensive experience in the healthcare industry has given them deeper insights into the real pain points of doctors and hospitals, which has allowed them to build an incredibly intuitive product for doctors to use without any training - a feat that is virtually unheard of in the healthcare industry.

Doctors love Bot MD, and the high engagement numbers speak for themselves. We’ve been incredibly impressed by how their daily retention rates resemble a consumer platform, and how they have been able to grow their user base virally in every single hospital account onboarded. Put simply, Bot MD has built an indispensable tool to assist doctors in daily clinical tasks.

The need for a solution like Bot MD is stronger than ever. In a world facing the worst global pandemic of our lifetime, governments and healthcare systems have been struggling to respond to the Covid-19 crisis. Last summer, the Bot MD team partnered with the National University Health System (NUHS) in Singapore to develop SGDormBot, an AI chatbot that helps doctors to monitor the health of migrant workers diagnosed or suspected to have Covid-19 in real-time and intervene when necessary.

But this is just the beginning. Customized clinical modules can be built on top of Bot MD’s AI platform to help drive greater clinical efficiency and patient safety. Also, Bot MD will introduce patient-facing applications by powering consumer messaging platforms for pre-screening, appointment scheduling, bill payments, and chronic disease monitoring to be conducted with seamless integration to the hospital's existing systems. Ultimately, the company hopes to connect all the various healthcare stakeholders within its digital clinical ecosystem.

We are thrilled to continue partnering with the Bot MD team and help build its business in Southeast Asia and beyond. While a lot remains to be done, we believe the future is bright for Bot MD. We have no doubt that it will achieve its BHAG (Big Hairy Audacious Goal) - to empower every doctor that has a smartphone around the world!
