MHV FELLOWS 2019

About the Program

The MHV Fellows Program aims to provide accomplished individuals with the experience of working with a top venture capital firm in Southeast Asia. Over the course of eight to ten weeks, the Fellows will have the opportunity to work alongside a highly dynamic and experienced team on a wide variety of projects involving early stage investments. The Fellows will receive hands-on training and mentorship, get to shadow the investment team during their meetings, while honing essential skills in the areas of investment due diligence. The Fellows will gain experience in research and analysis of various sectors, geographies and investment opportunities.

Fellows will also be invited to attend private events held by MHV as well as by our portfolio companies, where they will get to meet some of most inspiring founders from the region and network with thought leaders.

What we look for in a Fellow

  • You are currently enrolled or looking to enrol in a full-time MBA program.

  • Genuine passion for entrepreneurship and the startup ecosystem.

  • Knowledge and interest in Southeast Asia

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with a high degree of professionalism.

  • Excellent analytical, project management and organizational skills, with a proven ability to drive initiatives to conclusion.

  • Proactive, independent and able to work with minimum supervision.

  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment; enjoys challenges.

What we would like from interested applicants:

  • Resume with a cover letter explaining your interest in applying for the internship, clearly stating available dates

  • A brief investment memo (4-5 pages) about a tech startup in Southeast Asia that you would recommend MHV to invest in. For this purpose, please prepare a simple write up which includes the following:

  1. Introduction of the business

  2. Market opportunity

  3. Product and revenue model

  4. Competitive landscape

  5. Why should we invest?

  6. Risks

MARKETING MANAGER

Location: Singapore (Open to applicants from Ho Chi Minh, Jakarta and Bangkok as well)

 

Position overview
We are seeking a Marketing Manager to help grow our brand through events, partnerships and community building exercises across the Southeast Asia region.

 

What You’ll Do

  • Travel between SEA cities to implement outreach strategies and assist the team on high priority projects

  • Identify new opportunities within each local market in Southeast Asia to maximize direct interactions with the MHV brand from potential and existing MHV partners and customers

  • Plan and execute exceptional experiences at community events or MHV events, including conferences, large and small meetings, presentations

  • Ensure each experience and touchpoint is reflective of the MHV brand

  • Effectively present information and respond to questions from management, MHV partners, and wider startup ecosystem

  • Track key analytics and provide actionable information and insights to influence marketing strategy moving forward

What You’ll Need

  • 2+ years’ experience in community organizing, event coordination, and/or experiential marketing efforts.

  • Outgoing personality with natural drive to build consistent relationships, seize networking opportunities, and thoughtfully engage with a diverse range of community groups and individuals.

  • Genuine enthusiasm for startups and venture capital

  • Willingness to work flexible hours beyond the 9-5. Events will take place on evenings and weekends.

  • An extremely detail oriented mindset and fondness for process discipline while multi-tasking several projects.

  • Ability to work as part of a team remotely while maintaining communication with team. Must be able to work independently on assigned projects with minimal supervision.

Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced recruiter to work with us and our Portfolio Companies in recruiting top talent professionals and executive level leadership. The recruiter will leverage the knowledge on our hiring needs and search requirements to match candidates with roles in which they will be successful. We are looking for someone who has experience in hiring across diverse backgrounds and nationalities.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Recruit top talents for the MHV Investment Team and Portfolio Companies

  • Attract and recruit top talent professionals and executive level leadership with the skills and personal capabilities to excel in demanding environment

  • Build robust and diverse pipelines of candidates through own networks and also various channels (e.g. meetups and events, employee referrals, and select sourcing tools)

  • Provide an efficient and high-touch experience for every candidate from application stage to offer, evaluating skill level, driving the interview process and offer process, including reference checks, salary recommendations and closing of candidates

  • Communicate effectively with the interview team to ensure preparedness during the interview process

Key Deliveries:

  • Own full-cycle recruitment for multiple positions for both Monk's Hill Ventures and its Portfolio Companies

 

Qualifications:

Minimum qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent practical experience

  • 3 years of full-cycle recruiting experience in an agency, corporate setting or technology startups. Previous hiring experience for startups is preferred

  • Experience in hiring across network of national and international candidates

Preferred qualifications:

  • 5 years of recruiting experience in an agency or corporate setting, or technology startups

  • Flexible and adaptable. Thrives in a fast-paced environment

  • Self-sufficient and able to work with little direct supervision

  • Experience closing senior and/or executive level candidates for technology or startup companies

  • Proven track record for assessing talent beyond matching keywords on a resume. A passion to find candidates that align with the vision and values of the hiring parties

  • A track record of personal accountability, strong work ethics, integrity, and proven organizational skills with attention to detail

  • Ability to handle relationship management, provide strong consultative skills and work in a large-team environment

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with proven ability to take initiative and build strong, productive relationships
